I am still absolutely riding a high after last night’s Yungblud show. It has me feeling rejuvenated and motivated to take on the daily grind. It also has me ready to discover the next big thing. That’s not to say that I “discovered” Yungblud. Clearly, I did not. But being able to reminisce about seeing him at the super intimate 7th Street Entry nearly ten years ago while watching him play to thousands at a sold-out Armory last night just has me ready to find the next big thing. Could Approaching Autumn be that next big thing?
This song isn’t new. It actually came out four years ago but “Beware The Ides of March” absolutely has drawn me into Approaching Autumn’s world in an insane and powerful way. The band wastes no time hitting you with their intense, deathcore-leaning metalcore sound. The power behind this four and a half minute long song doesn’t need a description nor can I give it one. It hits and hits hard. Although there is definitely a perfectly curated kind of vibe to this track and no lack of dynamics, it feels relentless and like the energy of this band never falters. I love that because, although feeling motivated and full of life this morning, I’m my normal level of exhausted and “Beware The Ides of March” definitely gave me the jolt of energy that I needed this morning to get my butt in gear to get stuff done. This may be your and my introduction to Approaching Autumn but it definitely isn’t where the journey ends with this band. I can’t wait to hear what else they have out there as I try and get stuff done today.
