Today is the kind of day where I spent my drive into work trying to calm my anxiety. My anxiety wasn’t about work, it was about what I was going to listen to all day today. I know that sound so silly and, quite frankly, ridiculous but it’s what I was dealing with at 6:30 AM. It’s now 9 AM and I still don’t have a taste for anything in particular so hopefully spending my morning with new music like “MGMTAG” from Be Kind will help guide me through my daily playlist and help me shake this silly sense of anxiety.

I didn’t get any information with this single so I can’t tell you what “MGMTAG” stands for or tell you what was in this band’s brain when writing this song but I an tell you that the track instantly had me hooked. This song starts with strong and glittery guitars before emo-feeling vocals come in and take this song off. From there on out, this four minute and eleven second song feels like a constant give and take between something slightly tender and something a bit more angsty. Between that and the way the instrumentation pops in and out with sparkling moments of intricate design and no shortage of heart, “MGMTAG” definitely had my anxiety level easing up in a way but also getting worse in another way. It eased up because this song is just so expertly crafted that it takes you into Be Kind’s world so effortless but made it worse because I know there’s not another band out there that can even come close to sounding or feeling like this song. I guess that just means I’ll have to spend some more time digging into this group’s repertoire.
