Clearly, I have no desire to work today. It hasn’t even been a bad morning at my day job but I’m just not feeling it so, instead of forcing it and becoming more and more frustrated and stressed, let’s take another break. I know it’s only been about twenty minutes since my last one but there’s a lot of amazing music to get through today and, truthfully, that just sounds like more fun right now.
“Not Like You” instantly hit me like a Green Day classic with a bit more of a Bad Religion grit. This song from Plastic Mars is perfectly situated between a standard pop-punk kind of world and something a bit more edgy and gritty. The description I got for this track isn’t in English so I was a bit surprised when the vocals were. That being said, this is a kind of song where the vocals seem to take a backseat to the overall vibe and energy of the song. I know that’s a wild thing for a lyrics lady like myself to say but it’s true. There’s so much power but also something bright and infectious about this track that it’s so easy to just fall in love with the feeling of this track rather than being preoccupied by the words. Plastic Mars is a band from Germany so Lord only know when or if I’ll ever get a chance to see them live but I know that, if I do get the chance, I’ll be right in front to take in all of this energy in real life and it’ll surely be perfect.
