My inbox is still fairly clean but it’s been a bit insane trying to keep it that way. I had been hoping that it would be an easy day where I could keep up on emails, get a lot of work done, and still find a bunch of time to check out new music but it’s just not panning out like that. That being said, I won’t let it get the best of me or get me discouraged. I am going to keep on trucking through the day and finding little moments to escape my email in order to check out new music like right now.
“Losing Grip” from Downstater is “an ode for the doomed, the damned and the forever reckless.” At least, that’s what the band says and, truthfully, you can feel that throughout this four minute long song. A fast and furious but full of emotion kind of punk track, “Losing Grip” helps you face your demons in a way. It looks burnout and defeat in the face and blasts it away with a sense of power but also this subtle sense of tenderness that reminds you that you are not alone in the battle that is everyday life. There’s a thrill that’s felt throughout this song and that thrill is exactly what I needed to keep moving today. Maybe you’ll interpret this song completely differently than I do but, no matter what, I’ll be willing to bet that Downstater will catch you with their power and heart that comes through so loud and clear in this song.
