Apparently, I didn’t get the message that today was an optional workday. Okay, it’s not really, but everyone was late today, except for me. I don’t understand. Maybe it’s my anxiety, or maybe it’s just my unwavering work ethic, but I could never and would never show up late for work without an explanation, and “slept in” is not an explanation. Don’t get me wrong, there are days when I wish I could, but I just don’t have it in me. Needless to say, my morning has been rocky, and it didn’t take long for the crabbies to take me over, but thankfully, that feeling is starting to subside due to my coworkers finally showing up and the fact that I have “Naked” from monster’s lighthouse to kick off my day.
“Naked” is about being addicted to something. Okay, that’s a super broad look at this song but, for me, it’s what struck me the most. If you really want to dig into the track, it seems to be about being addicted to love or to a certain person in a way. I’m sure you can relate to at least one of those things, but if not, have no fear, “Naked” is the kind of song that is super addicting in itself. The beat is heavy but bright and showcases a sense of dynamics that will take your breath away. Add that element to the way the vocals and overall style of this song seem to straddle a line between an almost indie-hip-hop kind of vibe and something a bit more standard indie-rock, and you are left with a sound that is as powerful as it is unique. I assure you that one listen to “Naked” and you will get hooked to monster’s lighthouse.
