I’m heading out of town tomorrow for a small festival in Chicago. I’m stoked not just for the festival, but also to get out of town with a good friend of mine. I need the break. I need the escape, and I need to get through this day of work first, which is proving to be easier said than done. My motivation is lacking, and keeping my eyes open and staying away from daydreaming seems impossible right now, but I have so much work to get through still. You know what this means. It’s time to take a break and check out another new song. This one is coming in hot from Tuesday Fall.

“Make Believe” is the perfect song for right now because it’s about escaping. Okay, it’s not about escaping a day job or work in general, like I’m trying to do right now. It’s more about escaping the ghosts of a past relationship, but I feel like it’s just as relatable. The message of this song is clear– you can’t ignore something just because you’re trying to hide it. Maybe you use silence or denial to get through something like a breakup or a crappy day, but at the end of it all, you have to address it in order to move on. I love how you can feel pain in this song like the pain of keeping things bottled up, but you also get this feeling that, in the end, everything is going to be okay if you just take the time to sort through your thoughts and memories. From the upbeat pop-punk anthem portions of this song to the more tender and raw moments that will tug at your heartstrings and make you feel things maybe you didn’t want to feel but needed to feel, “Make Believe” from Tuesday Fall is one of those songs that will make you feel seen, heard, and, most importantly, a little less alone.
