My co-worker has been asleep at her desk virtually all morning. Part of me is all, “You go, girl! Get that sleep!” but the other part of me doesn’t understand how someone could do that. Maybe it’s jealousy. I wish I could sleep at my desk when it’s slow, but that’s just not in line with my insane work ethic. My mind is conflicted. Do I tell my manager, because, ultimately, she’s making my job harder by making me the only one who can answer phones and whatnot? Or do I leave it alone and let him catch her when he gets back to the office from morning meetings? I don’t know what I’m going to do, but I know that it’s time to take a breather and give my mind a break by checking out “Fading Nature” from Pale Kaiori.

I absolutely love how Pale Kaiori hit me with a familiar but super unique sound right off the bat with this song. You instantly know that this is going to be some screamy kind of metalcore meets post-hardcore kind of song, but the j-metal influence that comes through loud and clear instantly had me hooked. J-metal, like J-pop, is Japanese metal music. Honestly, it’s a genre I know little about, but one that I am slowly dipping my toes in. I feel like Pale Kaiori does a great job of giving you a little taste of that genre while tying it back to the standards you know and love. “Fading Nature” is the fourth song from their brand new EP ‘Asleep In Reality,’ which just dropped last month. So, if you, like me, are super intrigued by this intricate and powerful, four-minute-long song, I highly suggest you spend some time this afternoon with the full EP.
