My day is still going swimmingly, but something just feels a wee bit off. Honestly, I think it’s because it’s been a few days since I last did a show. I needed a break before burnout got the best of me, so I took it, but now I’m itching to be back at a live show. Thankfully, I have a banger of a concert to go to tonight, but I still need to make it through the rest of the day before I get there. Thankfully, I have some great music to help get me through, like “Young” from Halcyon Club.
The second single from Halcyon’s upcoming album, “Young,” is playful and super fun at face value, but as you really dig into this song, you realize how dark it is. It’s about coming to terms with mortality. About losing those that we love, things that we randomly remember that will never come back, and about how we all wonder what our legacy will be. It’s all very daunting when you really start thinking about it, and if you’re not careful, listening to the lyrics of “Young” alone will send you in a tailspin, but thankfully, you have Halcyon Club’s spin on this darkness. This song is infectious, even danceable, as if trying to dare you not to be afraid of the future and not to look back. This song reminds you that life is short, so turn up the volume and move a little.
