Do you ever find your mind wandering to super dark and spooky spaces when you are just sitting there, working alone? Unprovoked, nothing wrong, just, all of a sudden, a wave of sadness, depression, hopelessness, and everything else nasty hits you out of nowhere and sinks you into a hole that you didn’t want to or plan to go into? Story of my freaking life, and also kind of the story behind “you guys” from Jus Rus.
I have a love/hate relationship with songs that make me feel seen so, truthfully, I have a love/hate relationship with this song. It stays soft and tender at the beginning with a slightly Spanish Love Songs or The Wonder Years kind of somber attitude. Each word didn’t just hit me; it tore me apart. I know nothing about Jus Rus. I have no clue who this is, where they are from, or anything like that, yet it felt like Jus Rus was in my heart and pulling out some of my deepest and darkest secrets one word at a time. This song is short at just under three minutes long, but there’s room for a truly epic crescendo that takes this song to an emotional apex that will surely make your heart drop and make tears swell up in the corners of your eyes. Don’t fight it. Let it happen, and let “you guys” from Jus Rus be the cathartic anthem we all need in this insane day and age.
