Happy Tuesday, everyone. I don’t have a quirky intro for you. It’s just another day stuck at the office, counting down the hours until I can leave and get to a show. I’m dragging a bit after a fairly sleepless night, but I won’t let that get the best of me. I have a day full of work and amazing new music ahead of me, so let’s get the day started off right with “Hansel” from Rustler.
“Hansel is a bit of a slow burn, but not in the traditional sense. Rustler hits you with a sense of pure swagger right off the bat on this song and then falls back into something a little tender. This tender part lasts a bit, but in the background, you can feel something build more and more with every passing beat. Eventually, the song hits an apex of sheer power mixed with the swagger that kicks the track off, which leads to a super infectious and energized kind of song, perfect for those mornings when you feel like you’re dragging ever so slightly. Inspired by John Lennon’s “How Do You Sleep?,” “Hansel” feels like a breath of fresh air while also coming off as an instant classic kind of song. At five minutes long, this is a full thought, a full story, not just a track you can breeze by so go ahead and get lost in Rustler’s sound and in the world that is “Hansel.”
