Today has been a super busy and somewhat manic morning but it feels good. I’m feeling energized and feel like I’m getting way more done than I typically do on a Wednesday morning. I know a crash is coming, but I plan on eating up this energy as much as I can before said crash happens, so let’s not waste a single second and dig into another new song to keep us going.

“King Death” is the latest single from Evil Island’s thirteen-song LP titled ‘Terraform The Afterlife.’ It’s a blistering single with chugging guitars and slamming drums. The vocals are equal parts angst and grit, giving this song the absolute perfect driving energy that you need for a Wednesday morning soundtrack. It doesn’t take long to figure out that this is a supergroup. Not only can you feel it in the overall flawless composition and presentation of this song, but you can also hear it in the vocals. That’s right. The vocals here are unmistakably those of Johnny Whitney of The Blood Brothers. I only got to see The Blood Brothers live once, but it lit a fire in me, and they became an instant favorite of mine. Although the band is now defunct, they are a staple in my daily playlists, so it was so refreshing to hear Johnny’s vocals come back into my world with the help of members of other bands ranging from Glassjaw, OFF!, and … And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead. I’ve honestly heard a couple of songs from Evil Island at this point. The album is amazing, and I can’t wait to see if this band continues on with new music or maybe even a tour. Either way, hearing this nostalgic-feeling but fresh-sounding song was literally music to my ears.
