Do you ever feel like you’re part of a movie or a game? It’s not an easy thing to think about, but it’s something that can send you down some dark and twisty roads if you’re not careful. I feel like life has been lifeing me extra hard lately, and I have to wonder if I pissed off some director or some gamer to deserve everything I’ve been getting lately. I know that’s no excuse, and I know I’ll be able to get through this bumpy portion in no time, but it’s something to think about, right? Whether or not you want to go down this pathway of slight existential dread in thinking this life is just a movie or just a game, I highly suggest you check out “I’m Just An Extra In Someone Else’s Move” from Not Coping.

“I’m Just An Extra In Someone Else’s Movie” feels like a summer song. It’s upbeat and bright but it has Not Coping’s unique and distinct blend of Midwest emo in that infectious pop-punk sound. I love how, although this song brought a sense of life into me that I so badly needed during a super manic Wednesday morning, it also seemed to level me out and give me a sense of calming comfort that my soul really needed. There’s a bit of everything here from peaceful calm to angsty rage and that’s what makes this song (and Not Coping in general) such a great listen no matter what mood you’re in. If you’re angry, you can let out some aggression through the gritty vocals. If you’re sad, you can fall into the tenderness of this song. If you’re happy, you can use the infectiousness of this song to keep you going. Long story short and even if you do feel like you’re just an actor in some weird movie or a player in some weird game, you should spend some time with this track today.
