Happy Friday, everyone! The sun is shining, and as soon as I leave my day job, I’m hoping to head over to the Minnesota State Fair. Needless to say, it’s a good day, and I’m just hoping that the work portion of the day goes by quickly. I’m thinking that if I can fill it up with some amazing music, it may help push the day along, so let’s jump right in, starting with “Purest Form” from Cranked.
This song feels like controlled chaos in its “Purest Form.” Cranked has an intense sound that is front and center in this three-minute, thirteen-second song, but even with that controlled chaos, there’s a subtle beauty behind it. I love the tension that Cranked forms in this song and the way that, throughout the track, you get little moments of relief when all the pieces come together to form something a bit more calming, if only for a few seconds. This song doesn’t follow the standard composition rules. Cranked forms these peaks and valleys that come at you like a thrill ride, so buckle up, sit back, and enjoy. Make sure to stick around for the surprise ending; this is far from what you may be expecting.
