For some reason, I want to argue with this song title. What do you mean “Get Rad”? I’m already rad af. Okay, that’s not actually how I feel, but as soon as I saw this song title, I had a battle with myself in my head about whether I’m rad or not. Really, it doesn’t matter because me being rad doesn’t mean anything, and it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that this new song from ON HIGH is truly “rad”!
“Get Rad” from ON HIGH is pure pop-punk perfection. I feel like I really don’t need to say anything else about this song, but I will. Right off the bat, there’s grungy pop-punk intensity that feels very much like Sum 41, but when the vocals come in, the song takes a shift to something a bit more pop-leaning, like State Champs or Neck Deep. ON HIGH seems to straddle these two worlds throughout this quick and furious song while giving you a sense of energy that is perfect for a Friday when you’d rather be anywhere other than work. Lyrically, this song is your typical pop-punk anthem about being around your friends and being your true self while living life to the fullest. I know that’s all so simple, but I feel like acknowledging how amazing our friends are and just living in the moment is easier said than done, so let this song be an infectious and perfect reminder as we move into the weekend.
