I briefly met Kosha Dillz at one of the final Warped Tours. It was super brief but I remember he introduced himself to me as Kosha Dillz and I was instantly in love. Not only did it speak to my pickle-loving heart, it spoke to my faith (spoiler alert– I’m Jewish). I thought it was a clever name, but beyond that, he came off as super sweet and genuine. I’ll be honest, I don’t remember if I made it to his set that day, but it was a name I never forgot, so I am so excited that, after all of these years, I have the chance to introduce you to him by way of his new song “Are You The One.”

Since day one, Kosh Dillz has been splitting the difference between hip-hop and indie-rock and has been nailing it every time. This song is a perfect example. His hip-hop flow is flawless. It’s fast enough to give this song an insane amount of energy and definitely has a very alt-hip-hop kind of vibe to it that puts him in the world of acts like Gym Class Heroes, but at the same time, there’s something very indie about the beat, which puts him more in the world of bands like The Wrecks. This one, in particular, is about being picky. It’s about being so picky you can’t pick. Sure, you can relate this to relationships, but I think you can also relate it to any artist and their art. The work is never done and, when you’re creating something on your own, there’s no such thing as perfection but, eventually, you just have to put it out there and let it float. Whether you want to rap or play the instrumentation, this song will surely put a pep in your step and a smile on your face.
