It has been snowing on and off all morning up here in Minneapolis so it seems only fitting to share “Snow Day” from Shaylee with you. This brand new song is absolutely worth your ears’ attention. The song starts off slow and calm but quickly jumps into an anthemic garage rock track with memorable guitar licks and dreamy vocals. The vocals remind me of old school Get Up Kids with a sense of hopelessness and pain a la Elliott Smith. It’s a cool blend and makes the overall sound feel vaguely familiar while giving you something new.
The music video for this track shows the members of this band playing through the track. Typically I look for creativity in music videos yet somehow the simplicity of this one kept me engaged. You can see the emotion in all three of these members as they play through “Snow Day”. It’s subtle but, when you catch onto it, it’s so very powerful– almost as powerful as this track is.
So warm up that cup of coffee or tea that has been sitting on your desk long enough to get just a little too cold, relax, and enjoy “Snow Day” from Shaylee!
