Flashback to March of 2021 time! It was before shows were really back and going strong after the crippling pandemic and I was stuck at home with a pile of music to review. One of the albums that crossed my desk was Mylo Bybee’s EP (you can check out the review HERE!). It was love at first listen and that EP remains to be one of my go-to’s when I don’t know what to listen to so I was thrilled when I saw a new single come across my desk from this amazing band.
The title track off of their new release, “Master & Machine” and continues to make me absolutely adore this band. Although the band claims that this is the heaviest song on the album, I really don’t get a heavy vibe from this song and, instead, find a sense of warmth and power from it which is more than fine by me. It’s the perfect blend of a little indie rock, a little alt-rock, and then a little sprinkle of emo sensibilities. Think Manchester Orchestra meets something a bit more commercial like Silversun Pickups but with a sense of energy that you may get from a band more like The Killers. Sure, “Master & Machine” may not be heavy to me but it’s a flawless track full of life that is absolutely worthy of your attention and proof that there is no stopping Mylo Bybee.
