Although I love my metal and punk music, every once in awhile I just can’t resist a solid pop song and that’s exactly what you get from “Sad Sugar” by New Friends.

This song wastes no time hooking you with an infectious beat and catchy hook. The overall vibe of the track is fairly laidback when you really start to pay attention but the chorus hits hard creating a super cool contrast throughout the song. I won’t try and hide it– if you are one of my metal followers, this will not be for you but, if you’re like me and are constantly looking for shifts in styles, “Sad Sugar” is perfect. The energy that comes through when listening to this song begs for this to be performed live. It’s one of those songs where, as you’re listening to it, you can almost feel the crowd up against you and smell the sweat and sweet energy that you get from a live show. Long story short, this is a great song to keep you motivated on a Monday and will surely get stuck in your head instantly.
