I was doing so good today. I was getting so much done and didn’t feel my heart rate of blood pressure rising as it typically does. It’s just been one of those easy days where you feel like you are getting so much accomplished and then… boom… hit with exhaustion and boredom like a ton of bricks. My to do list isn’t done and I’m still at work which means I can’t just take a break so I need a little pick me-up. Obviously I’ll be reaching for another cup of coffee but that doesn’t do it on its own for me anymore so let’s listen to “Cowboy” from Spice Jar and see if it enhances my little pick me up.
To say that “Cowboy” enhanced my much-needed pick me up would be an understatement. Although it’s lyrically about getting out of a toxic relationship and regaining your independence, I felt like this pop-punk and angst drenched track fit my day perfectly. The angst that comes through here is absolutely perfect with how it’s not quite in your face but absolutely demands your ears. The third and final single from Spice Jar’s second EP, ‘Stranger in My Room’, this song has moments that reminded me Alkaline Trio, others that brought a very MGK vibe to my head, and others that had me lost for comparisons. Long story short, this is just what I needed and I can no thank Spice Jar enough!
