Weesp – “Путь в темноте”

Okay, don’t be scared away by the title of this track. I know it’s almost intimidating because it’s so foreign to some of us but that just adds to the excitement behind this song from this Minsk, Belarus based group.

Yes, Belarus is a world away from the United States but listening to “Путь в темноте” from this band makes me feel so close to them in an odd way. This song is approachable but, more importantly, it’s unique. At the beginning, I wanted to compare this song to Anti-Flag but, as the song continues, it turns into so much more. With clear alt-rock, metal, and punk undertones, Weesp clearly has a grasp on the sound they want to produce and, although it’s completely unique, it’s done with such a sense of conviction and power. One of my favorite parts of this song are definitely the vocals from Lex Falco. The amount of emotion that Lex is able to attach to each word is truly amazing and I love the way each word comes with a different sense of emotion. Some come with an undeniable feeling of angst attached to them while others seems to focus more on a tender feeling. All of this mixed with the heavy yet well constructed instrumentation throughout this nearly five-minute song make for a truly can’t miss track.
