Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Although mine was insanely busy, I had an awesome weekend between some amazing shows and helping my little brother and his wife move into their beautiful new house. Is a whirlwind and now that I’m back at work, I’m feeling like I could take on the world so let’s find some new music to pair with this burst of energy.
Although the energy in “Darling” from The New Hires isn’t super in your face like some of the other songs I share out, there’s something completely addicting and energizing about this track. The song is about addictions and how they can take over your life so easily. This applies to any kind of addiction be it drugs, romance, or even coffee (as I start sipping on my fourth cup of joe for the day). That emotion comes through loud and clear throughout this song. There are dramatic rises and falls throughout the track that seem to mirror those ups and downs of addiction in a beautiful and expressive way. Again, this is not my typical pop-punk-perfect kind of track or one of my “let’s get heavy” type of songs but “Darling” is just one of those straight up amazing tracks that makes you stop what you’re doing and just listen so, do just that. I know it’s Monday and we all have a million things to do but take a second and let “Darling” from The New Hires take you over.
