I feel like just seeing this band name gave me a bit of an existential crisis. I mean, it’s true. We all “Woke Up Older” today and we all know that but I feel like just seeing those words made me feel something deep. Thankfully, Woke Up Older’s song “Long Way Down” isn’t as heavy as this thought it but it’s still absolutely amazing.
The lead single off of the band’s debut EP ‘Such a Lonely Sound’, this song is the perfect balance of nostalgia and fresh. A pop-punk-perfect track with a truly anthemic vibe, I loved the energy that this song gave me while giving me a sense of comfort. It’s boppy at first listen but, as you dig into the lyrics, you realizing just how much depth is in this song. I’ll be honest, the lyrics are actually quite heartbreaking and, although the element of having overly boppy instrumentation mixed with serious lyrics is a favorite thing of mine, I chose to really just hone into the infectious energy of this song this morning. Regardless of how you want to enjoy “Long Way Done” from Woke Up Older, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it so what are you waiting for?
