As a co-worked of mine would say, I’m cooling down the jets for the day. I went hard on work this morning and now that I’m feeling slightly caught up, I feel myself checking out of work mode and entering weekend mode. This is all fine and dandy but I still have a huge backlog of singles and albums to check out so maybe working on some of those will help time move faster? Let’s give it a try starting with “One For Sorrow” from Nachtwaker.

“One For Sorrow” is a dark and dramatic track inspired by a dark nursery rhyme. This is fitting as tomorrow I will be throwing a baby shower for my ride-or-die best friend and the theme is, well, dark– think Goth Baby. I felt like I was instantly pulled into “One For Sorrow” in a dramatic way. I was honestly a bit hesitant at first as I wanted something to give me a spark of energy and motivation and the slow and I didn’t think the intentional moodiness of this song would do the trick but it did– in a weird way. There’s an air of mystery that comes with every word and note throughout this five minute song. It’s eerie and dark yet it’s not muddy or depressive. Honestly, it was confusing for me to try and figure out this song but that’s the point of it… at least I think. Interpret this song, these words, and these notes how you want but one thing is for sure– you will be drawn to this song as if a spell has been cast upon you.
