The Honesty – “Counting” – Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Friday, everyone! We’ve made it and I, for one, am so ready for the weekend. Today is already a bit of a loss for me. My boss brought his gorgeous dog in for the day so I’ve found myself spending more time petting and playing with him than actually working. It has led to this weird “I’m full of energy” and “I’m checked out” dichotomy playing out in my head but I need to re-focus so let’s dig into some new music and see if that could help.

“Counting” from The Honesty is one of those perfect songs that seems to bridge the gap between pop-punk and just good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll. There’s a slight hint to the pop-punk vibe in the vocals and lyrics but, overall, this is just a powerful and anthemic track that will surely give you a burst of energy. There’s something ridiculously catchy about this song. That catchiness isn’t just in the chorus, it’s in the instrumentation throughout the song. I don’t know much about The Honesty but if this track is any indication as to what their other releases are like, I can’t wait to dig into some more from them.
