I was turned onto Warren Dunes back in 2021. That was a weird time in all of our lives as we tried to crawl our way out of the pandemic and what it had done to the music industry. I was honestly not having the great time with things but then I was asked to review Warren Dunes’ album ‘Get Well Soon’. The album spoke to me on so many levels so, of course, when the band asked me to premiere their video and new song “Take The Train” I instantly said yes (on top of feeling completely and utterly honored).
Warren Dunes are up to their usual things in “Take the Train”. This song, like the video, it catchy. It’s not your typical kind of catchy– think more quirky. My favorite thing about this song is the mesmerizing element that comes with the repetitive motions throughout the song. Although it is repetitive throughout this song, there are so many layers here (both vocally and instrumentally) that there are no two seconds that feel the same. It’s truly genius. Add a video that is both quirky yet so simplistic at the same time and you are left with Warren Dunes’ signature raw yet perfectly polished sound.
Before I formally introduce you to this amazing song and video, I want to share this quote from Julia Massey- the mastermind behind Warren Dunes:
