Happy Monday! It’s one of those days where I am definitely feeling like I’m part of a race to get everything done that I need to and know that I’m going to come up short but it’s also a day when I really don’t care. I’m going to put my head down, get as much done as I can today, and be okay with that. I just need some new songs to help me on this journey so let’s jump right into the first song of the day – “Silly Little Game” from Good June.

I saw The Menzingers last night which could be the reason I want to relate this song to that amazing band but, really, “Silly Little Game” has very strong Menzingers vibes that radiate from it. This song is a catchy little bop that bridges the pop-punk and emo scene into something more akin to alt-rock. There’s even a slight indie-pop jangle to this song that stands out but, all in all, it would be safe to call this a pop-punk-perfect kind of song. I love the emotion that comes through in this song that has a message of self discovery and passion. It honestly makes sense that Good June started as a solo project of Alex Ilyadis but I love that it has evolved into the four-piece that is Good June because it gives the raw lyrics and heart-on-sleeve style a sense of depth and perfection.
