Girl at the Rock Shows

I should have seen it coming. My perfect day where everything was going right has taken a turn and I am not beyond angsty and crabby. It doesn’t help that my head is pounding and I can’t seem to settle into anything good and therapeutic to listen to so let’s take a break from the chaos and see if “Charismatic Loser” from Shufelt could be the single to help me out of this little rut and back on track with the day.

This song has such a cool blend of styles and genres. It’s mostly an alt-pop track but there is something theatrical about the vocals and I feel like the roots of this song are fairly situated in the pop-punk vein of things. All of these elements come together to create Shufelt’s signature sound and make “Charismatic Loser” a song that will not be soon forgotten. Beyond the actual sound of this track is the composition. Although the movement throughout this three minute and sixteen second track makes sense, I feel like it wasn’t as predictable as I would have guessed. There’s depth, there’s drama, and there’s talent all making “Charismatic Loser” the perfect song to help me get my head out of the manic state it was slipping into.
