Happy Thursday, everyone! I’m not sure how it’s already Thursday but here we are and, per usual, the stress of the end of the week is getting to me but I’ve been to some stellar shows lately and have been checking out some amazing new music so I’m not going to let the stress get me too far down. Let’s go ahead and just jump right into it today by starting off with “Death Sentence” from Jordan Holmes.
“Death Sentence” is about breaking out of the daily grind. as Jordan puts it, “It’s a battle cry for those who want more to life than working a dead end job with nothing to show for it.” I love the sentiment because, although may be sitting at my 9-5 job but my life is anything but “normal”. I feel like people forget to have fun withe their lives and Jordan is here to remind you do just that with this powerful and anthemic song. I love the angsty edge that comes through with every aspect of this track. You can feel a sense of desperation and hunger in the vocals and the skate punk leaning instrumentation just adds to that feeling. “Death Sentence” will have you questioning your life in all of the right ways making it the prefect way to kick off a Thursday in a week that has felt like a constant grind.
