It honestly hasn’t really felt like winter to me yet. Sure, we’ve had a couple of snows but it hasn’t been much. We’ve had some cold days but, recently, it has been unseasonably warm. This may be great for some people but, for a winter lover like myself, it’s a huge bummer. I’m optimistic that things will get a bit more wintery with the forecast saying colder temperatures but, really, I just wish it was winterforever. This has nothing to do with “Tailpipes” from winterforever other than the band name but don’t let that stop you from checking out this amazing track.
There’s an amazing sense of depth throughout this three minute and forty-four second song. It comes with the instrumentation and the way that all of the layers of this song come together to create a powerful and punchy anthem but, more importantly for me, the depth comes from the lyrics. This is a song about feeling out of place and feeling like you are over something only to have that same thing come up again and take over your mind. I feel like that’s a sentiment we all know a bit too well and I love how winterforever translates this feeling into “Tailpipes” so perfectly. You can feel a sense of uncontrolled chaos with some of the guitars and a sense of desperation in some of the words. Even if you don’t pick up on those subtilties, there’s no denying that this song will make you feel something and, at the end of the day, that’s what music is supposed to do.
