Girl at the Rock Shows

The title of this new-ish track from MNERVA screamed pessimism to me. I know that question “What’s The Point?” is a simple one and one that’s not always negative but, for some reason, as I read the title today, it hit me with a sense of negativity which isn’t quite the vibe I’m going for. That being said, something in my gut told me to still check this track out and that this song will be my anthem for today. Who am I to argue with my gut?

Spoiler alert, my spidey senses were right. Although the vibe of this track is definitely a bit defeatist, I love it. It’s a modern take on a pop-punk anthem with elements of electronic sounds and tones that highlight the anthem for nihilists. You don’t have to be a nihilist to love this song but it definitely helps as the lyrics talk about how you can feel so powerless a lot of the time when it comes to the state of the world but, instead of giving up, MNERVA tries to give you a voice, an outlet, for that feeling. It’s not the most upbeat pop-punk jam that I will share today but I feel like the important message behind this track matched with the vulnerability that comes to fruition in the last few seconds of the song is more than enough for this song to be worthy of your attention.
