I’m feeling frantic today. I can’t get caught up on anything, and my boss at my day job keeps throwing massive projects my way while I’m trying to get some other stuff done for my other endeavors. I feel like I’m drowning, and it’s not even ten in the morning. I’m stressed and about to flip my freaking desk (okay, that’s a lie) but I can’t give in. I just need a breather, and Wilson Music is giving me a beautiful one with his new song, “Laying Low.”
“Laying Low” is a far cry from the hardcore/ metalcore show I went to last night and the Riot Grrrl playlist I have been blaring all morning, but it hit me with the same earthshattering magnitude, if not more. This soulful track will grab your heart within the first few seconds. With limited instrumentation, Wilson’s smoky and soulfully gritty vocals overtake this track with ease and, in turn, will have you falling head over heels for his talent. Beyond that, this song’s slow and somber nature will help drift you away from that feeling that you want to flip your desk. The ebb and flow of this song is staggering, and although it never quite reached the status of a tsunami-sized wave, the gorgeous flow of the track makes you feel like you’re on a boat out at sea, just effortlessly rolling with the tide.
