It’s not even 10:30 in the morning, and I’m already done checking in with all of my clients for my booking company, all of my inboxes are clean, and I’m oddly in a good place with my day job. I’m not trying to jinx anything at all, but this is an eerie feeling, and I know that my Fridays never go this smoothly, so I’m low-key, just waiting for something to implode. While I wait, why don’t we check out some new music like this brand new track from Citizen Rat?
“Shut My Mouth” is an angsty little bop from Australian punk rockers Citizen Rat, and it’s perfect for a Friday morning. Although this song has a super-aggressive feeling, the message behind the track is oddly uplifting. Okay, uplifting may not be the right word, but it’s relatable, and it made me feel a bit heard and seen. It’s an honest take on dealing with abusive self-doubt, and let’s be honest, that’s something we all struggle with. I really liked how you could feel a sense of tense desperation, much like how inner thoughts can strangle your brain and heart, but, at the same time, this song acted as an outlet of sorts to get it all out. Make sure to wait to the end of this song for an absolutely explosive moment that will surely knock your pants off (in a good way, of course).
