I know that I have shared a couple of singles from Desk Job. at this point, and I hate to play favorites, but the truth is, this band is just so good. I will keep sharing their songs until you all catch on and stop sleeping on this NYC-based act.
Right now, I feel like I can finally breathe for the first time this week. I feel fairly caught up on work (or at least as caught up as I can possibly get) and am keeping a calm demeanor which, for a Thursday, is typically a task. It’s just a matter of time before something jumps out at me an ruins this odd Thursday calmness. That’s what “A.F.T.” is about. It’s about the grind and how we can’t get off the hampster wheel because, if we do, it will run us over when we aren’t paying attention. The most important take away from this song (other than the sheer catchiness of it) is the reminder that it’s okay to take time for things you do enjoy because, at the end of the day, there will always be another fire to put out or another crisis. Clearly, I love the overall message of this song but, as mentioned, that’s not the only amazing part of this song. If you like Jeff Rosenstock and bands of the like, you will love Desk Job.. Their style is raw and their writing is honest giving you a perfectly relatable and powerfully anthemic track to remind you that you’re not alone and life is just too damn short.
