Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m still riding the high of my show last night. It left me feeling like I was on cloud nine. Just minutes ago, I found out that I am approved to cover the one and only AC/DC tonight. You could say that excitement is the name of the game today and that my head is just not in work mode. I can’t let that happen as I have so much to do yet this week, and now I will be out all night tonight given the sheer size of the show and the timing of it all so I need to get my head back in the game. Hopefully checking out some new music will help.

Our Escape wastes no time plunging you into their world of angst and aggression regarding “Hey Neighbor.” Opening with the song title, this track instantly gives you a perfect blend of hardcore and metalcore that continues throughout this three and a half minute long track. Lyrically, this song is a sharp and witty satirical statement on how easily we can all be tricked into hate. Whether it be for political, religious,s or social reasons, it’s clear that this world is trying to pin us against each other. I love how Our Escape urges you to realize that this is happening. In the showing of strength in “Hey Neighbor”, Our Escape tries to get you to say, well, “Hey Neighbor” while ignoring the pressure of outside forces to judge said neighbor. “Hey Neighbor” is a powerful song and statement, making it the perfect song to kick off your Thursday with.
