Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s a super stormy Monday up here in the Twin Cities. The threat of severe weather is alive and well and, currently, there is an epic thunderstorm raging outside of my window at work. Something about this has me feeling calm and, although I am super behind on work after having an insanely busy weekend, I’m feeling level headed and chill. I’m not going to jinx it and am knocking on all the wood around my desk but, for now, let’s take advantage of this laidback feeling and check out some new music starting with “You Are Here Now” from Taxidermy.

“You Are Here Now” is the second single off of Taxidermy’s ‘Let Go’ EP. There’s a spiciness and ambiance to this song that I found perfectly fitting for my day. The beginning of this track is soft and light but, within about thirty seconds, you get hit by a wall of power that can only be called “Taxidermy.” Although it’s a boisterous sound full of lush layers that come together to create a crushing sound, there’s something still just as beautiful and ambient about it as the beginning of this track. AS the nearly six-minute song moves on, you travel through waves of music clouds in a way. The rises and falls are epic and the emotion packed into this track is perfectly deafening. Although not the lightest and most carefree song to kick your week off with, “You Are Here Now” from Taxidermy is the kind of song that will kick your week off right.
