When I had my first experience with Oddysseys live, I wasn’t sure if I loved them or hated them. Their sound was unique and distinct which was absolutely up my alley but it was a bit more chill than I wanted that night. As time has gone on, I’ve spent more and more time dipping my toes into the Oddysseys pool and, at this point, I can say with certainty that I love this band. That quirkiness and creativity that had me pondering my love for this band has turned into my obsession and I was so thrilled when I saw that they had a new single out.

“Heaven Signs Clearly” is a true Oddysseys track. It has an almost spacey 80’s synth pop kind of vibe but with a more indie rock kind of infectious energy about it. The song seems to take elements of bands like Bauhaus or early New Order and blend them with something a bit more modern and fresh making this instant classic kind of song feel fresh and modern. One of the many things that really hooked me about this song is the subtle darkness. Okay, maybe it’s not super subtle as the track, overall, has this darkened haze surrounding it but, as you dig into the lyrics, you realize that there are layers to the darkness that creates such a lovely and lush sense of depth. It’s a little goth, a lot of pain, and a whole lot of razzle dazzle with the way it all comes together. “Heaven Signs Clearly” is a perfect song to check out if you’ve never heard of Oddyseeys. I feel that it lays out their distinct sound so well while leaving you with enough questions that you won’t be satisfied until you hear more from this amazing act.
