My weekend flew by—I’m sure yours did too. It has me wondering where the “Live” part of “Live Work Die ” is. It’s kind of a sobering thought, isn’t it? Do we even have time to “Live” anymore in this society where everything seems to move at breakneck speeds? There’s always more to do than we have time for but we have to make time for little things that make us happy and one of those little things for me is checking out new music like this song from Riskaverse.

“Live Work Die” is a very sweet feeling song but with a sense of depth behind it. The song was written when one of the members of Riskaverse was deployed in Qatar for the Airforce right after graduating from college. It’s a bit of a braindump of the thoughts that seemed to be in their mind during this time and reflects on everything from war to tech to more cliche pop-punk thoughts. Much like all of the contrasting thoughts and ideas in the lyrics, I love how this song goes from super sweet to something a bit more abrasive just with the way the band plays around with guitar tones during the instrumental breaks between verses. On top of it all, this song has an infectious energy behind it that makes it an instant earworm. “Live Work Die” can either be the kind of song that makes you get lost in your own head or an danceable little bop that can bring an instant smile to your face. Either way you take this track in, “Live Work Die” from Riskaverse is a solid track that is perfect for a Monday morning listen.
