You all know by now that it takes a special cover for me to share it out. Much like my distate when it comes to going to see cover bands, I typically don’t like listening to cover songs. Why would I want to listen to someone try and be someone else? that being said, some acts take a classic song and give it a huge twist that catches my attention and that’s exactly what JD Casper has done with Blink 182’s iconic “Adam’s Song.”

This is not just a cover, this is a reimagination. I don’t think anyone asked for a bluegrass-style version of this slice of pop-punk perfection yet JD Casper has delivered just that and has done it so perfectly. You get the same emotion that you may get from the original but this cover adds a sense of rawness and porch-sitting wonder in such a great way. I love how this song is cover is so stripped back yet feels full of live and energy. The song reads and breathes the same way as the original but is definitely completely and wholly creative and new. This cover of “Adam’s Song” is part of ‘Emograss’, an album that takes a look at bands like Blink 182, Brand New, Yellowcard, and more in a fresh bluegrass light. Even if you don’t think you like bluegrass music but are a huge pop-punk fanatic, I highly suggest you check this out if only for the wonder and creativity that it brings to the table.
