“The Blondtress” from The Insomnia Night is one of those songs that came to me with zero background information. Other than mentioning that The Insomnia Night is just trying to push some older songs (this one is six years old) prior to their new single that just dropped last month, there was nothing for me to go off of but, when a song is as powerful as “The Blondtress” is, you really don’t need much else.
I knew within the first thirty seconds of this song that “The Blondtress” was a bit out of left field compared with my usual shares but, at the same time, I knew I was hooked. This song is sweet and oddly playful while having a depth behind it that is so easy to get lost in. The soundscape created is lush and almost like floating in an ocean while the sun (portrayed here by the vocals) dances on your skin bringing you a sense of warmth that, at the same time, sends chills up your spine. Okay, I’m not sure what’s gotten into me today or if it’s just the power of The Insomnia Night but this song had me seeing visions. They didn’t have anything to do with the lyrics or even what’s going on in my life right now but it was more that this song had the power to truly drift me away to another world and a beautiful one at that. If you’re struggling today, this week, this month, this year, this life– press play on “The Blondtress” from The Insomnia Night and just let it take you away from everything even if only for a couple of minutes.
