I [barely] survived Punk Rock Bowling. I’m back to the daily grind, but truthfully, I’m struggling to get through this morning. My head is pounding, and my exhaustion is to the point where keeping my eyes open seems like such a task. That being said, I still feel like I’m in the clouds, floating on all of the amazing feelings that came with covering such an amazing festival, and knowing that I’m back at my day job slinging nuts and bolts (literally) rather than living my dream and covering music is killing me. Thankfully for me, I can spend my downtime between nut and bolt sales checking out some new music and I’m hoping that will keep me going until I can leave here and take an epic nap.
Although I don’t think anything will snap me out of this exhaustion-induced haze, “WAY BACK” from KRXS is breathing a sense of life into me that I absolutely need. It’s a song about remembering friends and friendship in a positive light even if they didn’t end in a super positive manner. I love how you can feel a bit of a tug and pull between emotions in this song. Overall, this song comes off as sweet and fairly positive but there are these moments of pure rage that are scattered throughout the three and a half minute song that seem to show that, at the end of the day, we all just human and, even though everything could be butterflies and rainbows, there are still stormclouds here and there that we have to get through. I think today is just one of my storm clouds and I know that I will get through it. I am just thankful that I have this bop from KRXS to help me on my journey.
