Happy Friday, everyone! We’ve made it and I feel like a celebration is in order because, although it has been a short week, it has been a long one at the same but we finally reached the finish line. Even if you still have work ahead of you all weekend as I do, we can still take some time today to throw a little end of the week party even if that means just taking some extra time to check out some new music like I plan on doing today starting with “Company of Portraits” from Family Man.
“Company of Portraits” is the debut single from Family Man’s upcoming EP, which is due out this September or October. It’s a bombastic single that instantly catches you with the severe intensity that comes through loud and clear throughout the song. It definitely has an IDLES vibe to it, which was perfect for me this morning as I seem to be unable to shake my current IDLES obsession. Although this song is restrained in terms of tempo and its oddly minimalist approach to instrumentation, there’s something stunningly intense and frantic about it. The way that feeling is juxtaposed by a more chill and sing-song styled middle portion of this song is true genius making this song one that will not only catch your attention, but will also have you falling in love with Family Man with every passing beat.
