I feel like I’ve fallen behind on everything lately, but I won’t let it get me down. I don’t think it’s that I’ve been lazy, more that I’ve just been insanely busy. It’s frustrating, but again, I won’t let it get to me. Instead, I’m just going ot put my head down today and power through my never-ending to-do list with a smile and a sense of optimism. I just need some songs to help me do so, and “Change of Heart” from Chejazito is the perfect song to help me out.

I like how this song starts off feeling very fresh and clean before turning into a gritty anthem with a sense of texture that will blow your mind. It’s a bit The Strokes-esque but with this sense of fuzz that gives it an almost electronic influence. On top of all of that, the vocals have a very folksy storytelling element to them, creating even more of a texture within this unique song. All of these unique and interwoven sounds are wrapped up in a bow of restrained energy, which adds a sense of tension to the texture that is just the icing on top. I’ll be the first to admit that there are certain words and phrases where the vocals feel like they go ever so slightly flat, but I kind of like how that adds to the overall grit of this song. If you’re looking for something with a fresh vintage to it and elements that are familiar but come together to form a foreign sound, “Change of Heart” from Chejazito is the song for you.
