It continues to be a boring day here at the day job where trying to stay focused on getting everything else done is difficult at best. My head has definitely left for the long weekend, but I still have at least a few hours before I can physically leave. Checking out new music is the only thing keeping me going right now so let’s dive into another new song. This one is “98%” from No Chillin’ Siesta Boys.
At four minutes and fifteen seconds, this song is a bit lengthier than what I typically go for, but this band had me hooked instantly, and when the song was finally done, I was left wanting so much more. The overall style of No Chillin’ Siesta Boys in this song is metalcore, but there are cool experimental and even 80s hair metal-leaning intricacies scattered throughout the track that give it a unique twist and something that I just can’t seem to get enough of. As the band puts it, “This song is an anthem of resistance and liberation, with intense energy and a strong determination to break away from everything that prevents moving forward.” You can feel that throughout the track. There’s an intensity in the vocals that matches the controlled chaos of the instrumentation throughout this song, creating a perfect blend of angst-filled aggression that’s utterly inescapable.
