I unexpectedly took yesterday off from work so I could be there when my little niece made an appearance in this world. I am so glad I did it because meeting her for the first time and seeing the joy on my brother’s and his wife’s faces was more than worth it, but now that I’m desperately trying to play catch-up and failing, it’s hard to keep it all in perspective. Luckily for me, The Dirty Nil has another new song for me to share with you today, and it’s absolutely helping me stay calm during the self-induced mania that comes with hundreds of unread emails and a never-ending to-do list.

The Dirty Nil’s new album, ‘The Lash,’ just came out last month, and if you’re not obsessed with it yet, just one listen and you will be. “Fail In Time” is one of the many anthemic tracks that make up this album. I love how this song seems to come at you like waves. I’m not just talking about the sonic waves that rise and fall throughout this song, but also the feeling that comes with them. There are moments of pure optimism and joy following, but this is almost a depressive vibe, but just when it starts to get a bit dark, the band pulls you back up with a tone of happy-go-lucky energy. “Fail In Time” is a rollercoaster ride to say the least. Personally, I hate coasters and refuse to go on them when at an amusement park, but I will buckle up and take the ride that is “Fail In Time” from The Dirty Nil time and time again.
