I have nothing for you this morning. I feel like I should be excited because it’s Friday and I have a weekend full of amazing music ahead of me but, really, right now, I’m just dragging. My head’s not in it today but it’s not like it’s anywhere else either. It’s just one of those “blegh” mornings and I need something to snap me out of that because there’s too much work to be one so let’s see if checking ou “Ghost of Me” from The Knockaround Band can get today back on track.
Do you ever think back to who you were or where you were years ago? Honestly, I try not to because it makes me too emotional but “Ghost of Me” tackles this topic in a beautiful way. As the band puts it, “[this] song tells the story of someone who’s come face-to-face with their past — the version of themselves that was lost, reckless, and disconnected. Through a deep, honest relationship, they find the clarity and strength to let go of that “ghost”—the lingering shadow of who they used to be.” Deep thoughts, I know, but don’t be intimidated. This song is perfectly catchy and infectious. It’s poppy and beautiful but comes at you with an undeniable sense of heart. Sure, it’s the story of looking back on your past, but it’s also a bit of a redemption song about moving past the past and being proud of who you’ve become. Although a bit poppier than I thought I was in the mood for this morning, “Ghost of Me” from The Knockaround Band filled me with that motivation and that fire that I was so desperate for this morning.
