Girl at the Rock Shows

It was so nice to have a long weekend and spend some quality time with my family (including my beautiful new baby niece), but it’s also nice to get back to work. I’m not feeling overwhelmed by my workload quite yet but I know it’s coming so I’m trying to set myself up for success today by gathering a playlist of some amazing songs to help me get through the day and that playlist is absolutely starting off right with “Lavishly” from JJ Sweetheart.

The first single off of JJ Sweetheart’s debut EP, ‘Live Lavishly,’ “Lavishly” is absolutely full of heart and passion. It’s a fairly slow and steady kind of song that begins by establishing a lush soundscape that rises and falls throughout the track. Overall, this is definitely a bit more slow-moving than I tend to go for, but the power that comes through in all of the layers that make up this track is nothing short of powerful. It’s almost difficult to decipher the words in this lo-fi, dreampop song, but I feel like you can feel the message that the band is trying to convey without the words to really tell you the story. If you’re wondering, or if you don’t catch it, this song is about how love is everything in your life, so, even if you feel like the search for love is impossible, you shouldn’t stop believing that it’s there. “Lavishly” is angelic, ethereal, and absolutely the kind of song that can bring you back to earth if you’re having one of those days where keeping your feet on the ground feels like an impossible task.
