We are getting closer and closer to the November 18th Minus The Bear show at First Avenue, and I am getting more and more anxious. Hearing remastered tracks from their 2005 album ‘Menos el Oso,’ and seeing new music videos that go with this reissue is not helping my anxiety, but is definitely getting me more and more excited.

“Drilling” is one of my favorite tracks from the legendary 2005 album, so of course, I was excited to see and hear what they did with the song for this reissue. The recording sounds a lot like the original, so I won’t focus on reviewing that because, clearly, it’s a banger of a track, but it’s the video that really made my heart flutter. The video shows the band performing the track at the same rehearsal space that they used twenty years ago when they originally wrote the song. I love how this simple yet powerful element kind of brings this band (and album) back to the forefront while paying homage to their roots. It’s a back-to-basics kind of video, but there’s something so elegant and delicate about it. Seeing the band perform “Drilling” in the small rehearsal space has me oh so very ready to see them take the iconic First Avenue mainstage in just a couple of weeks.
