It’s not a bad morning or anything like that, but I need a little pick-me-up. I got sleep last night so I don’t know why I’m so tired but here we are, just a couple of hours into work with many more to go and I’m already dragging. Luckily for me, The Planet Smashers have another new song out and everyone knows that the best way to wake up a little bit is by listening to a flawless ska song (which is what The Planet Smashers do so well).

Formed in 1994, The Planet Smashers are no new band, but they continue to produce high-quality ska music that seems to evolve with the times. “Things You Do” is proof of that. Although not the quickest-paced ska song out there, there’s so much to dive into when it comes to this two and a half minute long song. The fourth song on their brand-new album, ‘On The Dancefloor,’ ‘Things You Do,’ definitely dives into the 2-Tone and third-wave ska feeling that The Planet Smashers seem to focus on. It’s slow and steady but full of explosive horns, heartfelt words, and a fiery passion that will uplift you and fill you with a sense of energy even if, like me, you’re having a bit of a slow-moving Wednesday morning.
