There for a while, I felt like I was getting a new GreenWing song nearly every week, and things were great. Then the songs stopped. I still enjoyed jamming to their amazing songs like “Better Than Yesterday” and “Enough,” but I was ready for something fresh and wondered what happened to the band. Ends up, they went underground for a hot minute to make some new music and, hot diggity dog, this was worth the wait.

In true GreenWing fashion, “All Hard Feelings” hits, and it hits hard but also comes off as a super infectious little bop. It’s a little The Wonder Years mixed with a slight Hobo Johnson kind of emotion and all presented in a fury that almost reminds me of something like Four Year Strong. Really, GreenWing draws inspiration from a diverse range of worlds and genres, combining them to create a sound that is as heartfelt as it is infectious. I’ve always been struck by GreenWing’s way with words, and this song is no exception to that. The song is about getting up and moving on (shout out to all of my Day at the Fair fans out there). There’s a slight bitter taste in some words here, but overall, this is an anthem of redemption, a song for when you’re “done bending backwards, pulling punches for two.” It’s a sentiment that we all feel from time to tim,e but we can all admit that just getting up and walking away is rough. Let GreenWing be your guide to a brighter tomorrow. Get up, stand up, and walk away, all the while letting “All Hard Feelings” blare in the background.
