I’m having a good day today. I’m somehow mostly caught up on work and am optimistic about what the weekend may hold for me. Long story short, it’s not a day when “Everything Feels Bad” but I feel like that’s a rare occurance. It’s not that every day is doom and gloom for me, but I work myself too hard and am often beyond exhausted. Sure, today’s not that day, but it’s nice to have a song like “Everything Feels Bad” from Ghost Tour in my back pocket for when those days strike.
This song has a very calm opening that serves as a great comfort for on those bad days. It’s a song about the frustration and existential dread that seem to come with most days, and I love how this band uses the opening of this song as a sort of hug. After this intro, Ghost Tour hits you with their classic pop-punk sound. It’s honestly pretty standard, without anything particularly spectacular (other than a wicked guitar solo) to jump out and grab you, yet this song struck me. It made me feel seen, and more importantly, gave me that sense of comfort that, on bad days, can make all the difference. If you’re just looking for a fresh pop-punk jam that can make you feel okay when “Everything Feels Bad,” this is the song for you.
